Pants of Disappointment

Like most people, I have a drawer thats only role in life is to be the storage area for my underpants. I think sometimes that this might be a disappointment to the drawer. When it was first created it had high hopes for itself. It had a clear purpose - storing stuff. But what stuff would it store ? Hopefully it realised that it was a drawer in a set of drawers designated as 'bedroom furniture', so it didn't set its hopes to high, but what would be an achievement for such a draw ? Shorts ? T-shirts ? Bedding ? Who knows. But probably not pants. Hopefully it's not too disappointed with its role and, if it is, it can console itself that it's not the sock drawer (above it) 🤷♂️
A couple of weeks ago I was in a rush, so I reached in and had a quick rummage. There is a hierarchy in the pants drawer and we were going away for a week in a few days. This meant I was packing all my best pants the next day so had to go for a pair of the 'others'. By 'others' I mean pants that are perfectly fine, but not my favourites. So I grabbed a pair that looked to be to be 'perfectly fine', slipped them on and finished dressing. But as I was leaving the house I realised that there was an issue with said pants. Not life threatening, but a little bit irritating:
The elastic waistband was past its best
I'd already pulled them up a bit twice before I got in the car and there wasn't time to change them. So off I went, wearing what had turned out to be:
Pants of Disappointment !
Growing up I had a superpower. Modesty aside, I was world class at it. Unfortunately it was a superpower I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, so being world class was more than a little bit sh1t. My superpower was the ability to imagine the day ahead in great detail and then be slightly disappointed when reality didn't match my specific expectations !
